Public Health Intelligence Analyst (Trainee)Job Number:
SWPHO 057Band 5 (£20,710 - £26,839), Full-time, 18 month fixed term contract

This is an opportunity to start a career in the varied and interesting field of public health intelligence analysis, which involves mapping, analysing and interpreting patterns and trends in population health and its determinants. Initially you will be based at the SWPHO in Bristol where you will receive comprehensive training in the techniques and approaches employed in public health intelligence analysis, coupled with supported project working on a range of topics. Following this you will be based in a public health organisation within the South West region (Somerset, Wiltshire or Plymouth) where you will gain hands-on experience of working in a front line public health analytical environment (an additional expenses package will be provided if applicable).
You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience, preferably in a quantitative subject. Specific knowledge or experience of public health analytical methods is not necessary as full training will be provided. However, applicants should be competent in the use and application of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Most importantly, applicants should have an enthusiasm and interest in public health, and a desire to develop a career in this area of work.
